Bashar Al-Assad, President of the Syrian Arab Republic visited an unknown number of military outposts on the Frontline in Eastern Al-Ghouta where he shared views about the war with soldiers and conscripts. The Syrian president had a frugal Iftar (a dinner marking the end of the day fast during the holy month of Ramadan) with infantrymen in a military outpost. When asked by the President what was his occupation before the war, an old reserve soldier replied he used to be a literature teacher.
Syria is at war since March 15th 2011 against several foreign-backed terrorist organizations trying to destroy the Syrian State. Syria is still technically at war with its arch enemy, the State of Israel, and is the facto at war with Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
