  1. Vladimir Suchan: As Shoigu and the whole Russian delegation were meeting with the Syrian and the Iranian defense ministers and as Russia suspension of airstrikes against al Nusra around Aleppo allowed al Nusra and its « moderate allies » (Moscow’s terminology) to launch a successful offensive against Iranian troops south-west of Aleppo, Sputnik, the flagship of Russian PR published an anti-Iranian material based off the information provided on the website of the US right-wing think tank, the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, which looks much like a front for the CIA. Among its senior staff is James Woosley, a former CIA director.

«  »Article 22 of the budget for 2017 says the Central Bank is required to give the money from the legal settlement of Iran’s pre- and post-revolutionary arms sales of up to $1.7 billion to the defense budget, » Saeed Ghasseminejad, associate fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, wrote in an article for the organization’s website. »

« Saeed Ghasseminejad, associate fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, wrote in an article for the organization’s website. » …. Foundation for Defense of Democracies … that’s almost as good as citing the CIA directly.

The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) is a non-profit, non-partisan 501(c)3 policy institute focusing on foreign policy and national security. Founded in 2001, FDD combines policy research, democracy and counterterrorism education, strategic communications and investigative journalism in support of its mission to promote pluralism, defend democratic values and fight the ideologies that drive terrorism.

FDD transforms ideas into action and policy by focusing its efforts where opinions are formed and decisions are made. FDD holds events throughout the year, including the Leading Thinkers series, briefings on Capitol Hill,

From the FDD wikipedia page on the FDD activities:
    Iran
Led by executive director Mark Dubowitz, FDD’s Iran research seeks to educate « the public and political elites in both the United States and abroad about the activities of Iran and its Syrian and Hezbollah proxies ». FDD says it does this through attacking Iran’s « most vulnerable points: its worldwide media operations, its standing in the United States and Europe, its finances, and its efforts to support terrorist activities abroad ».[10]

    Syria
For years, Syria has been a focus of FDD’s research because of its alignment with Iran and support for organizations such as Hezbollah.[19] In 2012, as the Arab Spring spread to Syria, FDD launched « The Syria Project » to support dissident efforts in removing the Assad regime.[20 https://en.wikipedia.org/…/Foundation_for_Defense_of…
